This is a shortcut, not an app-store download. Nothing to submit, nothing to approve. The browser just saves your site as an installable web app, the kind pros call a PWA (a progressive web app, a normal website that can be pinned and opened like an app).
It reads the device on its own and shows the matching steps:
- On a Mac, the Add to Dock flow.
- On an iPhone, the Add to Home Screen flow.
- On an Android phone, the Chrome install app (add to home screen) flow.
How it works
A floating Install app button sits on the page; tap it and a popup opens over a dimmed page, what pros call a modal.
It spots the device the moment it opens, so a Mac, an iPhone, and an Android phone each get the correct step by step to follow.
A hero illustration sets the scene, with a short title telling the visitor they can install your site.
An animated step shows the real dialog, the browser's own Add to Dock or Add to Home Screen box in action.
A short numbered list spells it out, each step matching what the visitor sees on their screen.
Tap Close to dismiss it, and the visitor keeps browsing or follows the steps at their own pace.
What you can customize
