How to copy a website design with your AI

CopyDesign is a library of designs taken from real websites, like buttons, popups and full page sections.

You don't copy any code.

You copy a prompt, the block of text you paste into your AI, and your AI builds the design into your own site.

It takes 4 steps:

  1. Pick a design available in the library.

  2. Make it yours and customize it as you want with the options available.

  3. Copy the prompt.

  4. Paste it into your AI, and it builds the design into your site.

Step 1, pick a design that already works on a real site

Every design in the library comes from a real website or app. So you start from something that already does its job, not a mockup.

You don't need to know what it's called. Just look around until something catches your eye.

Browse the shelves

The library is sorted into shelves, one for each kind of design. Buttons for the main actions on your page, popups for the messages that open over it, and more shelves for sections, forms, banners and widgets.

Each design has its own page with a live demo, so you can see it working before you do anything.

Want to see designs working together? Our demo sites are full websites built only from designs in the library.

Start with today's free designs

Every day, the 10 most copied designs go on the Freebies shelf.

And without creating an account, you can copy up to 10 prompts for free from the Freebies. It's the easiest way to try CopyDesign.

See the newest designs

We add new designs every week. The newest designs page always shows the latest 20, so one quick look tells you what just landed.

Step 2, make it yours with the options

On each design page, right under the demo, you'll find a "Customize the prompt" section. That's where you shape the design for your site, before you copy anything.

The options you can change

Every design has its own options. Depending on the design, you can:

  • pick from a list, like a color or where the design sits on the page
  • slide a number up or down, to pick something like the number of rows or the amount of delay in seconds before the element slides in
  • type your own words, like the text on a button
  • tick the parts you want to show

Every choice you make goes into the prompt, so your AI builds the version you picked.

The live preview

The demo at the top of the page updates as you change the options. This way you can try a few options and see live what it would look like, and only copy it when it looks right for you.

Open the Shine CTA Button to try it. Change an option and watch the button change in the demo.

Step 3, copy the prompt

When the preview looks right, click on Copy Prompt. The button turns green and says Copied!, so you know the prompt is ready to paste.

If your browser blocks the copy, a text box with the prompt shows up under the button, and you can select it and copy it by hand.

What the prompt is

The prompt is a block of instructions we wrote for your AI, with the options you chose already in it.

It describes the design in detail, from what it's made of to how it behaves. It also sets the quality it has to reach, like working on every screen from phones to desktops.

And it tells your AI to use the real content from your site and to ask you for anything it can't find, instead of making things up.

Why it works with any AI

The prompt describes a design, not a piece of code. It never names a tool or a framework, so any AI can read it and build it its own way.

That's the big difference with libraries that hand you code written for one setup. Because often this way the code breaks the moment your setup is different. A clear description doesn't.

Step 4, paste it into your AI and it builds the design

Open the AI you build your site with, paste the prompt, and send it.

Your AI reads it and builds the design into your site, in your colors and fonts.

Which AI to use

The one you already use. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, whatever you work with.

If your AI can open your project's files, like the one in your code editor, it can add the design to your project for you. If you use a chat, it gives you what to add, and you add it to your site.

What to ask your AI after

Your AI may ask you a few questions first, like which text, links or offers to show. That's normal. The prompt tells it to ask you instead of inventing anything.

Once the design is built, keep talking to your AI in plain words:

  • "Make the button a bit bigger."
  • "Move it to the bottom of the page."
  • "Use the same font as my headings."

And remember to take a look on your phone too.

If something looks off

Tell your AI what you see, in plain words, like "the popup covers my menu" or "the colors don't match my site". It can fix it from there.

Still not right? Tell us on our contact page which design it was and what was off, and we'll improve the prompt.

Works with your AI and your website builder

CopyDesign works with any site your AI can work on: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, a site you built with an AI coding tool, or one you coded by hand.

The prompt tells your AI to adapt the design to your project. Your AI does the adapting, with whatever your website builder lets it add.

Copy a design from any website with the Chrome extension

Questions people ask

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You pick a design, adjust the options, copy the prompt and paste it. Your AI writes the code.

Which AI can I use?

Any of them. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, whatever you use. The prompt is plain instructions, so any AI that can build a website can read it.

Does it work with WordPress, Wix, Shopify or Webflow?

Yes, as long as your AI can work on your site. The prompt asks your AI to adapt the design to your project, and your AI does it within what your builder allows.

How many designs can I copy for free?

10 on the website, from the Freebies section, with no account. Plus 10 more with the Chrome extension. After that, you need to pay $20 per month to unlock every design.
